The Equine Therapy Program for Veterans is conducted by Eagala Certified Therapist, MaryAnn Brewer and Licensed Psychotherapist, Micke Stafford. Prior to working with the horses, a therapist will assess the veteran to determine their needs and develop a course of action. Five of our sanctuary horses participate in Equine Therapy, two are former race horses and the others were found in kill pens ready to ship to slaughter. Most of the veterans participating in this program have been diagnosed with PTSD, and with only 3 sessions of equine therapy, they will have experienced the equivalent of 6 months of in-office therapy.
